What's in a name?

We all know how important it is when selecting a name for a new business. There are countless websites and articles out there extolling the principles of choosing a business name, therefore I will not repeat the mantra here.

However, where did I get the idea of “Midash” in my business name? Originally I was looking at “Midas” – we are all aware of the Midas touch in Greek mythology where everything turns to gold when touched. I can assure you that I do not have such powers but it was a name I liked. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, I could not use “Midas”.

Therefore I continued agonising with alternative names and kept hitting a brick wall. I wanted a name that meant something to me and kept trying to devise names using a combination of utilising my children’s names. I simply could not come up with any suggestions that would work.

We have all been in a situation where the answer has come to us and we kick ourselves because the answer was so obvious. So I went back to “Midas” and simply put a “h” at the end and realised that the first two letters from my two boys and my name spelt out “Midash”!

Mi (Michael)

da (Daniel)

sh (Shaun)

So this is the story of how “Midash Window Cleaning” was named. My boys were ever so pleased with the name and the fact that it represents the three of us. It’s a name that I’m proud of and I hope it comes to represent real meaning to my customers for other reasons.

Meanwhile, just to remind people that my service areas are Sittingbourne, Isle of Sheppey, Maidstone, Rainham and surrounding areas. I offer window cleaning, cleaning of gutters, soffits and fascia, and claddings. I also clean solar panels too. Please take a look at www.midashwindowcleaning.co.uk for further information.
